Adjustment of Post-censal Population Estimates for Census Undercount

A post-enumeration survey was conducted in New Zealand following the 1996 Census of Population and Dwellings. Its main objective was to measure the completeness of census coverage. Following a careful evaluation of the survey results, it was decided to adjust the population base for net undercount, for the purpose of deriving post-censal population estimates and projections. This report describes and discusses the methodology developed for adjusting the population base.
