Child and youth prosecution statistics: calendar year

Four tables are available for selection. They provide information on the number of children and young people prosecuted (and the outcome of this prosecution) in the New Zealand court system for each calendar year.

Calendar year child and youth prosecution tables

These tables provide Youth Court (YC) statistics for 1992 onwards: 

Children and young people charged in court – most serious offence 
Statistics on the most serious prosecution outcome (across all offence categories) during a calendar year – by offence category.

Children and young people given an order in court – most serious offence 
Statistics on the most serious YC order given (across all offence categories) during a calendar year – by offence category.

Children and young people charged in court – all offence types 
Statistics on the most serious prosecution outcomes during a calendar year – for every offence category. 

Children and young people given an order in court – all offence types
Statistics on the most serious orders given during a calendar year – for every offence category.

Information on the age, gender, and ethnicity of the children or young people is available in each table.
