Statistics New Zealand media advisory: National Employment Indicator release cancelled
Last month, we announced that we were reviewing the future of the National Employment Indicator (NEI).
We have now decided to cancel future NEI releases until further notice. The next release would have been on Tuesday, 26 June.
The NEI is an experimental monthly series providing an early indication of changes in the number of total filled jobs held by salary and wage earners. The information is collected for tax purposes.
A review of the NEI identified issues when using this data for statistical purposes.
We are working to assess its suitability for future statistical information.
