Background
On Tuesday 7 March 2006, every person in New Zealand was asked to fill out a census form as part of the 2006 Census of Population and Dwellings. To find out more about the 2006 Census, have a look at the page called Census information on Schools Corner.
The treasure hunt activity aims to have students navigate the census information to find out about the people who live in their area. Students complete a series of questions by reading tables and graphs.
For students keen to find information about the school's area, they can go into Quickstats about a place and find the area the school is in.
