(HLF) Household Labour Force Survey
New underemployment series
For the March 2013 quarter, there will be a new series added to the Household Labour Force Survey.
This series is the ‘Persons Underemployed by Sex’ series - HLF+.SU*. Click here for details of the series identifiers.
This series will replace the ‘Employed Part-Time by Sex by Wanting Hours Change’ series - HLF+.SNH*, which will be discontinued.
The new series will include our new definition of underemployment and an underemployment rate, as well as other variables that are useful to look at in conjunction with underemployment.

(ITM) International Travel and Migration
We are introducing a new field called 'closest overseas port', and five new tables containing this field on 6 May 2013. The new tables are:
- SRD8 - Short-term NZ traveller departures by closest overseas port
- ST6 - Total passenger movements by closest overseas port and selected NZ ports
- ST7 - Total passenger movements by NZ port and selected closest overseas ports
- SVA9 - Visitor arrivals by country of residence and closest overseas port
- SVD5 - Visitor departures by country of residence and closest overseas port.

Closest overseas port records the first port of a passenger's flight after leaving New Zealand, or the last port of a passenger's flight before arriving in New Zealand. It is not necessarily where the passenger joined or left the flight.
The closest overseas port tables will be replacing the current 'overseas port' tables, which record the port at which the passenger joined or left their flight to/from New Zealand. Overseas port tables will be removed from Infoshare in August 2013. These tables are:
- SRD3 - Short-term NZ traveller departures by overseas port
- ST4 - Total passenger movements by overseas port and selected NZ ports
- ST5 - Total passenger movements by NZ port and selected overseas ports
- SVA5 - Visitor arrivals by country of residence and overseas port
- SVD2 - Visitor departures by country of residence and overseas port.

With the release of the March 2013 quarter results, five new non-standard quarterly series will be available:
CPI Non-standard All Groups Less/Plus Selected Groupings for New Zealand (Qrtly-Mar/Jun/Sep/Dec)
- All groups less rentals for housing subgroup (series identifier CPIQ.SE9NS1500)
- All groups less food group, household energy subgroup, vehicle fuels, & government charges (series identifier CPIQ.SE9NS1510)
CPI Non-standard Tradable & Non-tradable Component Series (Qrtly-Mar/Jun/Sep/Dec)
- All groups tradables less food group (series identifier CPIQ.SE9NS6020)
- All groups tradables less food group and vehicle fuels (series identifier CPIQ.SE9NS6030)
- All grps non-tradables less rentals for housing, home ownership, & property maint subgrps (series identifier CPIQ.SE9NS6530)
These series go back to either the June 1999 quarter or the June 2006 quarter.. |

(SND) The seasonally adjusted series for primary industries (SNDQ.SG01RSC02B01A99) and agriculture, forestry, and fishing (SNDQ.SG01RSC02B01A01 and SNDQ.PG01RSC07B01AA) have been updated. Revisions put through the agriculture component for the 1996–2006 period did not flow through to the seasonally adjusted primary industries and agriculture, forestry, and fishing series due to an error. The revisions did correctly feed through the agriculture component and total GDP, and no other series are affected. We regret any inconvenience this error caused. |

(PRD) Education and Health Industry Productivity: 1996–2011, to be published with the Industry Productivity Statistics: 1978–2011 information release on 11 April 2013, will include productivity series for the education and training, and health care and social assistance industries from 1996. The same variables as those currently available at the industry level, except for capital cost proportions and labour income proportions of measured sector, will be released. Data is based on ANZSIC06.

(BOP and IIP) Balance of Payments and International Investment Position
Corrections – 7 March 2013
We have corrected some figures originally published in Balance of Payments and International Investment Position: Year ended 31 March 2012 on 27 September.
The errors are specific to stocks and flows of direct investment between New Zealand and several economic country groupings (APEC, ASEAN, EU, and the OECD).
They affect periods between the years ended March 2001 and March 2012. To varying degrees, the total stocks or flows for direct investment into those country groupings had been understated or overstated.

There has been a revision for the December 2012 quarter due to incorrect summation of the component series for the Wholesale Trade Total Stocks series. It affects the December 2012 quarter for the Other Goods Stocks and Total Stocks series(WTSQ.SE9CA, and WTSQ.SZ9CA).

With the release of the December 2012 quarter results, two new series on the youth labour force will be available:
• Youth Labour Force and Education Status by Ethnic group by Age group (series identifier HLFQ.S8A)
• Youth Labour Force and Education Status by Ethnic group by Sex (series identifier (HLFQ.S8B)
These series will include data from December 2007 and the ethnicities will be based on the total response method of classification. Quarterly and annual data will be available for these series.
