The tourism satellite account is linked to, and consistent with, the existing New Zealand System of National Accounts. The framework used follows international guidelines established by the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). A satellite account involves the rearrangement of existing information found in the national accounts so that an area of particular economic or social importance can be analysed more closely.
Latest releases
* The release date for the Tourism Satellite Account: 2009 was rescheduled to October to include the latest March annual year and improve timeliness. Provisional estimates are now produced for the years ending March 2006–09. This change to the release date means that the sequence of annual publications has advanced from Tourism Satellite Account: 2007 to Tourism Satellite Account: 2009 .
